From the King City of Davao to the Tuna Capital of the Philippines – General Santos City, to the City of Golden Friendship - Cagayan De Oro to Asia’s Latin City of Zamboanga, now it’s time for the City of Majestic Waterfalls of Iligan to host the biggest gathering of bloggers throughout the island – the Mindanao Bloggers Summit or MBS.
Now on its 5th year, the summit banners the theme “One Green Mindanao: Mobilizing Bloggers to Promote Sustainable Lifestyle”. The big event is scheduled on October 29-30, 2011 at Celadon Pensionne House in Pala-o, this city.
The 5th Mindanao Bloggers Summit (MBS5) will have Commissioner Naderev C. Saño of Climate Change Commission as the guest speaker. Other resource speakers include Ms. Anna Oposa, Pitong Pinoy Awardee, and Ms. Janette Toral, author of www.digitalfilipino.com, to name a few.
The summit is being organized by Iligan Bloggers Society, Inc. with support from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Foundation of Iligan, Inc.; the local government of Iligan City, and Congressman Vicente “Varf” Belmonte, Representative, lone legislative district of Iligan City.
The 5th Mindanao Bloggers Summit is also co-presented by Globe Telecom, one of the largest telecommunication companies in the country today. Globe provides mobile, fixed line, and broadband Internet services. It is first in the Philippines to commercially launch a consumer WiMAX offering as a complement to its existing DSL and 3G Internet facilities, to ensure the internet gets to every Filipino who needs it. Globe is also providing Internet access via WiMAX to selected schools and city hospitals in Mindanao as part of its thrust of community service to the marginalized areas.
With Globe broadband, users can experience speeds of up to 2 Mbit/s, delivered via 3G and High-Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) which enables subscribers to experience fast access to surf, e-mail, chat and blog from mobile phones, laptops or desktop computers.
As a platinum sponsor in this year’s summit, Globe has also extended the company’s generosity by covering the registration fee for this year’s summit.
Being the lead proponent for the Mindanao Bloggers Summit 2011, Iligan Bloggers Society, Inc. believes the summit will not only strengthen the mutual trust and friendship among the participants but also further promote and recognize the need to continually communicate with one another to know and understand Mindanao, its diverse people, rich cultures and amazing places through the available technology.
The host is also looking forward to showing MBS5 participants the best that Iligan City has to offer.
The summit’s side events will include a concert, as well as tours to waterfalls and other tourists spots in the city.
